WHAT I PACKED FOR: ART BASEL MIAMI 2011

Heather and I are at Art Basel in Miami this week and here are a few things I’m dreaming of having to wear this weekend! I really love the monochromatic look with pops of bright punchy accessories. (I might even give my right arm for those Altuzarra pumps…!) Basel has been great so far, amazing galleries and photos to come soon, stay tuned.

POSTCARD FROM AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam is hands-down one of the best cities in Europe and I say that with both a business and personal tone. For shopping retail it is absolutely incredible there are so many stores which provide such a unique assortment of clothing and accessories. What I find so particularly fascinating is the fact that there is virtually no one on the street who isn’t in a pair of sneakers. High-top Nikes and Vans were certainly the two most popular styles, rightfully so as Amsterdam is littered with sneaker shops on every corner.

Below you will find just a few quick shots of the city and surrounding areas, enjoy!

POSTCARD FROM ANTWERP

Yesterday I said goodbye to Antwerp and headed on my way to Amsterdam. Antwerp was such a different experience from Paris in so many ways but I was pleasantly surprised with the number of trendy shopping destinations scattered amongst the city. Aside from the classic dutch designers, such as Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten, there were cool new boutiques to discover as well. Your! Boutique was definitely my favorite, fully equipped with hair salon and bookstore to accent the premium designer clothes and accessories. Other boutiques to note in Antwerp are Ra13, Renaissance, Clinic and Hospital. Each boutique has its own vibe and aesthetic while at the same time providing the customer with more than just a place to buy clothes but an entire shopping experience. I truly believe this is the future of brick-and-mortar retail and Antwerp has paved the way with seamless perfection.  [Below a few snaps from the three day excursion.]

POSTCARD FROM PARIS

As this whirlwind week comes to an end, I leave you with a visual diary to dissect and digest. I met so many amazing people at the tradeshows and even on the streets, ate macaroons, shopped and noted every detail of Paris retail and Galeries Lafayette, drank ample Cafe au Lait, watched trend seminars, slept a little and learned a lot. Paris is a melting pot of cultures and creativity and I am pleased to share every beat of our adventure with you… next stop: Antwerp, Belgium.

BANAGO Bags and Accessories

Fashion Snoops met Banago [ba-nah-go] at their Miami swim debut. Their booth was a total show stopper, filled with brightly colored hand woven bags and home accessories. Our favorites were the beach mats (which fold smartly into a strapped carry) and the to-die-for clutches—the perfect mesh of beach boho and city sophistication. Bonus points: each item is expertly hand crafted by artisans in banago founder, Renee Patron’s native Pacific Islands AND proceeds directly support the local communities and their households.

Place your order online or call up Banago’s Soho showroom where Renee can personally create an exclusive pattern especially for your store. We love!
