This season we’ve done something a little different with our initial runway analysis. Not only are we reporting on our most beloved ladies and juniors shows from each season but we created an overview of the top accessories from each city as well. All the reports from NYFW are posted on the website and below is a little sneak preview…. click HERE for more!
Considering how baron the necks of NYFW were I was thrilled to see these killer statement necklace come down the runway in London. Stay tuned for full LFW coverage coming today! We are back from Milan so now I have time to actually serve up a runway feast! xx
Two words: NECK BELT. After last season’s presence of metallic chokers and collars I thought for sure there would be a lot of form fitting neckwear but this takes the cake. Although there has been virtually no jewelery coming down the NYFW runway I think this makes such a bold statement and I love it for SS12… I can imagine it in floral prints or spectator stripes as well.
Much like the vibe of Altuzarra, Charlotte Ronson had a very Utilitarian Femininity about it. The strappy sandals with the sheer knee-high socks underneath is a refreshing update to the clunky silhouettes of last year. We again see another metallic shoe in Ronson’s collection proving it to be a key player in NYFW.
In AMSTERDAM for just two days to cover retail here and haven’t had NEARLY enough time to dive into NYFW the way I want to. However, I think the ALTUZARRA show was really powerful with its utilitarian femininity and sleek minimalism. Absolutely love the contrast of these body belts to the uber strappy and lady-like sandals. There has been so much white its insane, I truly think the key colors for SS12 footwear will be white, red and metallic silver… let’s see if the remainder of the shows follow suit. Tomorrow off the London… ciao for now!
Although I am no fortune teller, I will say that after my coverage of the past ten (has it really been that many?!) SS12 tradeshows all over the world and the first glimpse of NYFW, I knew my intuitions had to be leading somewhere. Almost every single designer of DAY ONE had their models trotting down the runway in flat espadrilles, oxfords, loafers or thin strappy sandals. Call me crazy but after the nearly half-decade reign of the clunky oversized platform shoe I think I can confidently say I am ready for this change into simplicity and femininity. Check out the styles from DAY1 below and decide for yourself, are you ready to step down from your heels for SS12?

Day ONE of NYFW and I am already wishing it was Spring again… Well, maybe not right away, but soon enough that once I’ve worn all of my Fall trends I can immediately move onto some of these airy new ones.
Coming down the runway at NYFW Day 1 we saw watercolors and abstract prints at BCBG and RACHEL COMEY but to juxtapose this juicy palette a lot of designers such as NICHOLAS K and ODILON headed for a monochromatic white look which speaks perfectly to the minimalism I was hoping to see for SS12. Below you can see not only the milky shades of these white platforms but also the full look next to the shoe for an overall understanding of the trend.
